The Lunatic Cultist always drops one, so there is no farming involved and no reason to ever want a second. Pick it up, carry it home, and set it next to your anvil and furnace. Everything from the Luminite tier onward is built here, and leaving it parked at the Dungeon entrance means a round trip every time you want to make something.
the fragment converter is the underrated part
Pillar drops rarely come out even. If one tower gave you a fat stack and another left you short, this station lets you trade the surplus type down into whatever you are missing, which can save you from running the whole event a second time for a single missing set. Check what you can convert before you summon again.
the exception that catches people
Two of the biggest endgame items, the Zenith and the Drill Containment Unit, are not made at this station despite sitting well past Moon Lord. Both want a Hardmode anvil instead, which is a common source of confusion when the recipe refuses to appear.
Cosmetically it cycles through the four pillar colors while placed, and it keeps doing so even after you paint it. The paint only takes on the parts that were not already shifting.
