Terraria 1.4.5 has 3,570 crafting recipes spread over 35 stations, plus 415 you can make with no station at all. Type an item name to find every recipe that produces it or uses it as an ingredient, or open a station below for its complete list.

the station is the gate, not the recipe

There is nothing to learn or unlock. Anything you hold the materials for appears in the list on its own, and the usual thing keeping an item out of it is that you are not standing near the right station. Stations never need to be clicked, so one room with an anvil, a furnace, a workbench, a bottle and a loom packed together opens most of the early game at once.

A station counts if any single tile of it falls inside a small box around you, about five tiles to either side and three above or below. The Artisan Loaf widens that box permanently by four tiles in every direction. Crafting from nearby chests is the other setting worth turning on: with it enabled, anything sitting in a chest within roughly thirty-seven tiles counts as being in your pockets.

any wood, any iron bar

Plenty of recipes take a group rather than one named item, and you can mix members of the same group inside a single craft. Two bars short? One iron and one lead will do. The catch appears later at Shimmer, which always hands back the first member of the group no matter what you actually built with, and a handful of recipes still demand the plain version instead of the group.
