Bat Hook

Goodie Bags only exist while the Halloween season is running, and the odds inside one are thin enough that most people who own a Bat Hook got it by accident. If you are hunting it deliberately there is no shortcut: kill everything during the event and open bags in bulk. Counting the chance of the bag dropping in the first place, this is one of the least likely things any single enemy kill can hand you.

It fires one hook, not several, so you cannot leave a line anchored while you throw the next one. What you get instead is a very long reach and a fast reel, which is strange to have this early. For crossing caves and shooting up vertical shafts it beats everything else available before Hardmode. For arena work and fine positioning, a multi hook like the Ivy Whip is easier to control even though it does not go as far.

Vampirism worlds skip the lottery entirely and salt ordinary underground and cavern chests with it, at odds you will actually hit while exploring normally. The snap back reel and the name are both a Batman joke.
