Dropped by
the money weapon
Everything you hit with it coughs up loose copper, on top of whatever it drops when it dies. On its own that is pocket change. Bolted onto a farm where you are already swinging at a stream of spawns, it becomes a steady second income for no extra effort. Anything with almost no health, critters included, pays nothing, so it wants real enemies rather than a field of bunnies.
luck matters here
Your luck raises the ceiling on a payout rather than the payout itself. Positive luck gives a chance for the cap to jump well above its normal limit; negative luck can push it below. Ladybugs, a Garden Gnome and a Lantern Night all feed straight into what a farming session is worth, which makes this one of the few places where luck has a visible effect.
getting one
You cannot hit the Tax Collector yourself, so his cane has to come from something else killing him. Traps, boulders, drowning, an angry enemy, Explosive Bunnies and Land Mines all work. Lava does not, since he is immune to it. If you already own one cane, the simplest route to a second is beating him to death with the first.
