the trade you are making
Reach is effectively zero. To do anything with these you stand inside the enemy and hold the button. In return the swing rate is high enough that the sustained damage embarrasses weapons two tiers above it, and against anything segmented every part touching you takes its own hit, which is why worms fold so fast.
build for the hugging, not the damage
Standing inside a hardmode enemy is how you die, so the accessories that matter here are the defensive ones. Knockback immunity from a shield keeps you from being bounced out of range every time you get clipped, and something that stretches your invincibility window after a hit, like the Cross Necklace, is worth more than another damage percentage.
which prefixes to chase
Size prefixes buy real reach, and reach is the thing this weapon lacks. Speed prefixes barely register, since it only takes a fraction of any melee speed bonus and the rest gets rounded away. Legendary gets you both, but Large or Massive is not a bad landing spot if the reforge bill is getting silly.
the name
A bagh nakh is a real weapon, a set of concealed claws worn across the palm, and the Hindi name translates to tiger claw. It fits: this is a hidden weapon that only works if you are already close enough to be in trouble.
