Spiders, mostly. Wall Creepers and Black Recluses in the Spider Caves, plus Sand Poachers out in the Desert, and it turns up often enough that one pass through a nest usually produces a couple. It is among the better food buffs available at that stage, so eat these rather than selling them.
statues will not work
A Wall Creeper statue happily produces enemies all day and none of them will ever hand you an egg, because statue spawns are cut off from food drops on purpose. If you wanted a farm, build it around a natural Spider Cave and let the cave do the spawning.
