The Zoologist only puts this on her counter while a Blood Moon is running in Hardmode, so the window is short and easy to sleep through. If you are already staying up for a Blood Moon to fish or to farm the event drops, check her shop early in the night rather than at the end, since the moon can set while you are still climbing back to town.
the pet itself
The Baby Werewolf runs along the ground beside you and switches to flapping its arms whenever you jump or outpace it, which looks less like a wolf and more like a startled bird. It is a callback to a werewolf pet that used to exist on the older console and handheld releases before being cut, and this version picked up a tail that the enemy werewolves it copies have never had.
