Hellwing Bow

This is the rare weapon that wants the cheapest ammunition in the game. Feed it wooden arrows and every shot becomes a flaming bat that ignores gravity, flaps along a wandering path and cuts through an unlimited number of enemies. Load anything expensive and you are paying for an arrow that does nothing special.

The bats are slow and the shots do not go where you point. There is real spread before the bat even starts weaving, so landing hits on one small fast target at range is mostly luck. Where it works is a wall of enemies walking into you: a goblin army, a hell tunnel, anything that has to queue up to reach you.

It is a shadow chest weapon, so it is a reason to sweep the underworld ruins once Skeletron is down. If you would rather not spend that time hopping between ash platforms, the same bow turns up in the locked boxes that come out of obsidian and hellstone crates, which you can fish for at your own pace.
