Life Hair Dye

The Stylist sells dyes that swap a fixed hair color for one that reacts to something happening in play. This one reads your health and shifts as it drops, which turns your own sprite into a health readout you can check without looking away from the middle of the screen. In a fight thick with projectiles that is genuinely more useful than watching the hearts in the corner.

The color carries over to how you appear on the map and minimap as well, so in multiplayer other people can see roughly how a teammate is doing from the overview.

Almost every helmet hides hair completely, which makes any dye invisible for as long as you are wearing real armor. The way around it is a vanity headpiece that leaves hair showing, or the Familiar Wig in the social slot, which keeps the dye visible under anything. Party Hair Dye is the one exception in the range: it throws confetti even when the hair itself is fully covered.

Each dye reads a different value, and a couple of them do real work rather than just looking good. Time Hair Dye tracks the clock closely enough to stand in for a basic watch, which frees an accessory slot if you only wanted rough time of day. Biome Hair Dye picks up the water color of wherever you are, and a water fountain will change it even though the fountain is not really changing your biome. Team Hair Dye only appears in the Stylist's stock in a multiplayer world, and if you have not joined a team it turns your hair white instead of doing nothing.

One stock condition is worth knowing before you go looking for it. Money Hair Dye will not appear in her list at all unless you are carrying a platinum coin, which is a far higher bar than the dye itself asks for. Anything you regret comes out with the Hair Dye Remover, so there is no risk in trying one.
