Dropped by
the throw
Release the attack button partway through a swing and the sword leaves your hand toward the cursor. It flies flat for a fraction of a second, then falls off sharply, so anything much beyond melee range is a miss. Learning to let go at the right moment roughly doubles what the weapon can do, because the throw runs on the same cooldown as the swing you were already paying for.
A thrown blade that clips a wall appears to hang there for a beat. It does no damage in that state, so do not treat it as a trap.
when to use it
It comes off Antlion Chargers and Swarmers, and the desert is a hostile place to grind that early, so you either get lucky or you go without. If it does turn up, the reason to swing it over other pre boss swords is the critical rate, which sits far above what anything else at that stage carries. Crit gear and reforges compound off that higher base, so a Legendary roll is worth chasing here more than usual.
