Nachos

This lands on the middle rung of the food ladder, above the plain cooked meats and short of what a proper kitchen dish gives. Early on that gap barely matters, so a stack carried out of the desert covers you until you have a cooking pot and a reason to stand at it.

It falls off the desert enemies that already give you trouble, the sharks that burrow through the sand and the tumblers that come rolling in from off screen. Since those keep spawning on their own in a surface desert, the drop piles up while you are mining or building there. There is no reason to set up a farm specifically for it.
