This is one of the most expensive things any vendor will sell you, and what you pay moves with how the Pirate feels about where he lives. Catch him homeless or dumped somewhere he hates and it climbs high enough that nothing else in the game costs more. Housing him near a neighbor he likes, in a biome he likes, is the difference between a long grind and an afternoon of coin.
He only offers it while you talk to him standing in the Ocean, so either move him to the coast or take the trip out to him.
the pet itself
The parrot trails behind you and perches on nearby ground whenever you stand still, which makes it one of the calmer pets to leave out. One warning: it looks close enough to the hostile parrots that show up during a Pirate Invasion that you will swing at your own bird at least once.
