Safe
Can be used to store your items Stored items can only be accessed by you Stored coins can be used in shops
why it is not a chest
The contents ride on your character rather than the world. Mine it up, carry it to a different world or a different server, put it down, and everything is still inside. That makes it the least painful way to move gear between worlds without keeping a mule character. It also means another player standing at the same Safe sees their own items, not yours, which is the only real theft protection on an open server.
what it does not do
- It does not add capacity. A second Safe is another door into the same storage, not more of it.
- It does not share with the Piggy Bank. Those are two separate stashes that happen to work the same way.
- You cannot pull items out while it is in your inventory. It has to go on the ground first.
coins
Money stored inside survives your death even if the Safe itself is in your pockets when you die, and it still counts when you buy from an NPC. The shop window adds it into your total for you. Emptying your coins into one before a trip to the Underworld removes most of the sting from a bad fall.
placement
Unlike the Piggy Bank it will sit directly on blocks, so you can stick one on a ledge in a mineshaft instead of hauling a table down with you. Small thing, but it is the difference between using it in the field and only using it at home.
