Shadow Dye
what it looks like
This is the dye to reach for when you want a silhouette. It pushes whatever it touches down to near black, deeper than Black Dye manages, and it throws off a trail of dark motes while you move. The trail is what makes it read as an effect rather than a color.
That trail is also why it is not always the right call. Across a full set at a distance it looks great. On one dyed piece it draws the eye straight to the part you were trying to sink into shadow.
Anything already semi transparent goes almost invisible under it, which is a useful trick on light pets like a Wisp in a Bottle if you want the glow without the object floating in shot.

Either catch the Dye Trader on a full moon or hand him strange plants in Hardmode and take your chances on the reward roll.
