Shadow Jousting Lance
Build momentum to increase attack power
Dropped by
speed is the whole weapon
Hold the button and the lance stays locked out at whatever angle you were aiming when you pressed it. What decides the hit is how fast you were moving when it connected. Standing still, a poke is worth almost nothing. Coming out of a dash or riding a fast mount, the same poke lands for many times that. Wings, sprint gear and minecarts all feed into it.
it folds the instant you get hit
Any damage you take retracts the lance. Against something that trades blows with you, that is a losing loop and no amount of speed fixes it. Where this shines is plowing through crowds of fragile enemies in one pass. The Feral Claws line helps because autoswing re-extends it for you without another click, and heavy knockback accessories keep things off you in the first place.
the water column trick
Nothing caps the momentum bonus. Sink to the bottom of a very deep shaft of water, then rocket to the surface with a Mollusk Whistle or an Inner Tube and connect at the top of the climb. Built properly this is enough to drop the Dungeon Guardian in a single touch.
small habits that pay off
- Aim straight up or down and the hitbox becomes tall and thin, which catches flyers you would otherwise sail past.
- Pointing it down in a hellevator cuts through cobwebs so they never slow your fall.
- Hold it against your direction of travel and mounts moonwalk at full speed, which is useless and worth doing once.
