Shadowflame Hex Doll
Summons Shadowflame tentacles to strike your foes
Dropped by
it is a shotgun, not a rifle
Only one of the three tendrils per press goes where you clicked. The other two wander, and the further they travel the wider they stray. Against something small at the far edge of the screen you land a fraction of what you fire. Walk into its face and all three connect. That is the whole weapon: get close, hold the button, and what it puts out per second beats nearly anything else you can have when you first cross into hardmode.
why crowds melt
Each tendril tracks its own hit timer, so they do not steal damage from one another the way older piercing weapons did. Fire a wall of them into a segmented worm or a knot of small adds and every strand lands independently. The Destroyer and Plantera's flailing arms are the obvious tests, and both go badly for the enemy.
getting one, and when to bother
The warlocks carrying it only appear once the goblins return in hardmode, and the drop is not reliable, so plan on farming a couple of invasions. Do it early. The weapon is strong the moment you own it and falls off once you have post-mechanical gear, so one picked up after Plantera has largely missed its window.
small things that catch people out
The strands expire quickly, so the range is short by design and gets shorter underwater. Tight caverns suit it. Open arenas do not.
