Throwing Spiky Ball Trap into Shimmer transmutes it into
Spear Trap. Obtained by shimmering:
Flame Trap. All transmutationsthe balls need a floor
Each activation spits out spiky balls that ricochet around the room until they run out. They only bounce off solid blocks, so a room floored with platforms lets everything drop straight through and the trap covers nothing. Build the kill zone out of real blocks. It can also shoot through a single block placed directly in front of it, which lets you bury the trap one tile deep and hide it entirely.
stacking them does not scale
The game looks at how many loose balls are already sitting near a trap before letting it produce another, and it weighs the close ones heavily. Six traps crammed into one corridor will not give you six times the output because they all read each other's clutter as a full room. Spread them along the length of a farm instead of bunching them at the entrance.
where it earns its keep
Base defense wired to enemy pressure plates is the natural fit, since the balls linger and cover ground you are not looking at. For a dedicated farm, spear traps generally beat it, because they hit in a fixed line rather than depending on where a bouncing ball happens to end up. Digging them out of the temple needs the Picksaw, and explosives will not free them until Golem is down.
