how the boulder behaves
Each cast drops a boulder that falls, bounces and then rolls along the floor, grinding through everything standing on it until it has connected a handful of times. Its damage and knockback are tied to how fast it is travelling, so a boulder that has slowed to a crawl is barely doing anything in the seconds before it gives up. Keeping boulders fast is the entire skill of the weapon.
using it well
Fire downhill or off a ledge rather than across flat ground. Gravity keeps the rock at speed and you stay in the higher damage bracket much longer. That makes it excellent against anything walking toward you along a floor, and perfectly good single-target damage if you can shoot a grounded boss from above. Flyers are the blind spot, since a boulder that misses just keeps rolling. It also punches through a single layer of blocks when you stand right up against them, which is worth remembering when you want to hit something through an arena floor without opening a hole in it.
