Dropped by
the throw
Holding the swing and then releasing launches the blades instead of finishing the arc, which gives a short reach sword a ranged option on the same cooldown. The throw drops sharply after a moment in the air, so aim above anything at a distance. It goes through one enemy and dies on the second.
bleeding is the real effect
Both the swing and the throw cause bleeding, which shuts off enemy regeneration. Against a slow tanky target that is worth more than the numbers suggest. Attack speed makes the throws come out faster, but invincibility frames cap how many can land on one target, so past a point the extra speed only pays off against groups.
The blades appear to cling to walls for a moment after they hit. They are doing nothing while they sit there, so do not treat it as a trap.
getting a pair
The Stylist has to die and it cannot be by your hand. Lava, traps, drowning, an explosive bunny, whatever you can rig. Keep any lava shallow or the drop burns up before you reach it.
trivia
The internal name in the game files is an outright Kill la Kill joke, pointing at that show's scissor blades.
