A single extra tile of placement range sounds trivial, and mostly is until you start building. Bridges, arenas and long walls all go up faster when you can reach further from where you stand, and the bonus adds on top of every other range boost you have, so the construction accessories are meant to be worn together rather than chosen between.

It quietly stops working while smart cursor is on. You can still place blocks by hand at the wider distance, but the automatic placing refuses to reach past the normal limit. The Toolbox and Extendo Grip do not have this problem, though the builder potion shares it, so if your reach feels wrong mid-build, switch smart cursor off before assuming the accessory came unequipped.
