Flowers refuse to grow when a background wall sits behind the block, or behind the tile immediately above it, which is why a flower bed inside a finished room fails for no visible reason. The way around it is order of operations. Plant first, then put the wall in behind. The plant stays put.
what the wild variant does
Every other seed the Dryad stocks locks you to one color. This one rolls whatever it feels like, which is what you want for a meadow and a nuisance if you are matching a color scheme. For anything deliberate, buy the specific color instead.
where they will take
Plain grass and mowed grass only, so corrupt, crimson, hallowed and jungle grass are all out. Clay Pots and planter boxes sidestep the whole problem and let you keep flowers indoors or on a shelf where the grass rules would otherwise stop you.
