Bone Throwing Knife

A thrown weapon that pierces has one obvious target, and that target is worms. Anything with a long segmented body takes a hit on every segment the knife travels through, so a handful of throws does absurd work on the Eater of Worlds while doing very little to a single tough enemy. The fossil set comes from the same material and pushes ranged damage, so the two go together without any thought.

Unlike the javelin made from the same fossils, this does not stick into a target or apply a lingering debuff, so there is nothing gained by carrying both. Pick one and craft in bulk.

If you have stripped a desert and have more sturdy fossils than uses for them, turning the pile into knives and selling the stack is the best rate you will get. It is slow, but it is reliable early money at a point when nothing else is.
