Bunnies are everywhere on the surface, cost nothing to catch and are harmless, and cooking them turns a worthless critter into something a merchant will pay real coin for. Before you have a boss farm or a fishing routine, spending an evening hopping around the forest with a cooking pot at home is a legitimate way to fund your first big purchases.

The effect it grants is the basic tier, so once you are cooking with proper ingredients this becomes stock to sell rather than something you eat. Early on there is no reason to leave a stack sitting in a chest, though. A basic food buff before your first boss is still free stats.

The eating animation throws its particles forward instead of dropping them, the same way soups do. The tooltip is a joke about rabbit feet being lucky, which is grim if you think about where the stew came from.
