Dropped by
why it hits so hard
Each use lands two strikes rather than one, and every connection sprays a fan of sparks that carry their own damage, punch through a couple of bodies and set them alight. Those sparks count as melee, so every melee accessory, buff and armor bonus you are wearing scales them alongside the saw itself. Stacked up, the damage per second beats most of what is available in the window after Plantera, the Terra Blade included.
the catch
It is still a chainsaw. The reach is short, so you are standing in contact damage the whole time, and it shuts off after a minute of holding the trigger and needs restarting. In a long boss fight that pause always seems to arrive at the worst moment. It is happiest on the Solar Eclipse crowds that dropped it and on anything you can safely stand next to.
notes
- The sparks scatter through a wide cone at randomized distances, so they cover ground but cannot be aimed.
- The burn on any single spark is short, but with this many landing it stays lit on everything in front of you.
- Both the enemy and the weapon are a nod to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
