getting one and keeping it fed
The rifle comes off Pumpking during a Pumpkin Moon, and your odds climb with the wave you have reached, so the fix for a dry streak is a better arena rather than another attempt at an early wave. It always arrives with a starting pile of Candy Corn, enough to try it out on the spot. After that the Arms Dealer stocks the ammunition, but only while the gun itself is somewhere in your inventory. Leave the rifle in a chest and the line vanishes from his shop, which catches people out constantly.
how the shots behave
Every round falls as it flies, so distant targets need you to aim high the way a bow does. Each shot punches through a couple of enemies and skips off walls and floors several times before giving out, and the rounds also expire on their own after a few seconds, which caps how far a stray can wander. The candy carries its own short immunity window on whatever it hits, so the shots never steal hits from each other or from any other piercing weapon you have running at the same time. That is what lets it fire as fast as it does without wasting most of the stream.
where it earns its place
Crowds are the obvious use. Anything that lines up takes several hits from a single round, so invasions and event waves are where the output looks silly. The less obvious trick is height. Stand above a large ground-bound target such as Golem, an Ogre, Mourning Wood or Santa-NK1 and every shot that misses bounces off the floor straight back into it. In an open sky arena that bounce does nothing for you, so it is worth putting a floor under the fight. Unreal is the modifier to hold out for.
the ammunition
Despite the name, this candy is not food and cannot be eaten. It exists only to be loaded. A fair share of every burst is never consumed either, so a stack lasts noticeably longer than its count suggests and one purchase usually covers a whole event night.
