Captain Vest

This is the Hardmode fishing kit. With all three pieces on you cast harder and, more usefully, the world around you goes quiet. Fewer enemies spawn and fewer can be alive at once, so a long session at a lake in the Jungle or the Underground stops being a fight you keep pausing for.

The spawn suppression is worth remembering away from water too. Swap into it while you are building, hollowing out a large room, or crossing a biome you would rather not clear, and most of the interruptions stop. It gives up everything a real combat set offers, so change back before anything serious.

Pieces count as interchangeable with the reward gear from the Angler, so a Captain Hat worn over an Angler Vest and Angler Pants still pays the same bonus. Only the armor value moves. That is handy if you preferred the earlier look, or if you want to upgrade one slot at a time without losing the effect in between.

The tooltip on the hat lifts a line from the film Captain Phillips, which escaped the movie and became an internet fixture on its own.
