two fireworks per shot
Every trigger pull puts two rockets in the air while only eating one from your stack, which is where the damage comes from. They travel for well under a second before bursting, so this is a mid range weapon rather than anything you snipe with. The blast covers a wide square and it cannot hurt you, so firing point blank into a crowd carries none of the usual risk that comes with explosives.
load the cheap ammo
It strips almost every special property off the rocket you feed it. The tile breaking variants stop breaking tiles, the liquid ones stop moving liquid, and the cluster rockets stop splitting. That is convenient inside an arena you spent an hour building, but it also means expensive ammo buys you nothing here. Fill it with the cheapest rocket you can make.
one quirk to expect
An enemy hit by the rocket body will not also take the explosion, so a direct hit is worth less than it looks. Aiming slightly wide of a large target can genuinely be better than aiming at it.
