Step into the Aether and a small group appears right away, ignoring whatever the spawn rate would normally allow. So an empty shimmer pool is never something you have to wait around for. Once they exist they drift through solid blocks and back off when you get close, which means netting one is a matter of cornering it against terrain rather than chasing it down.

Almost any critter that touches shimmer comes back out as one of these. Throwing a full stack in only converts part of it at a time and the remainder floats back up for you to grab and toss again, so bulk conversion is a few repeated throws rather than one dump.

• Gold worms are the odd exception and come out as candy instead.
• Gem bunnies and gem squirrels collapse back into the gem they were made from.
• Anything spawned by a statue simply disappears on contact, so a statue farm produces nothing.

Turning one into the animated bottle furniture is a one-way trip. The critter inside is gone as far as the world is concerned, and the only way back is shimmering the decoration apart again.
