Same regeneration buff over the same generous area, but it sits flush enough to place things on top of and the game accepts it as the light source in an NPC house. A campfire fails that check. If you are furnishing rooms and want the buff to cover the whole base anyway, this is the one to build.

• It keeps burning underwater. Most campfire variants go out. That alone makes it the right pick for a flooded arena or an ocean build.
• You cannot click it on and off by hand. Wire is the only way to toggle it, and it gives nothing while it is off.
• No marshmallows, and it is not a crafting station, though a bottle set on the surface still works for brewing.
