High Velocity Bullet

It is the fastest ammunition in the game by a wide margin, fast enough that at close range you never see the round at all. For anything small, quick or weaving, that means you stop having to lead your shots. It also cuts through water without slowing, so an ocean or a flooded cavern fight plays exactly the same as a dry one.

The round expires after a fixed span of time rather than a fixed distance. Because it is so fast it still covers most of a screen, but there is a hard cutoff and it is not obvious when you cross it. If you are sniping something at the far edge of your view and the damage numbers stop appearing, that is what happened.

A few guns already convert cheap ammo into this on their own, the Sniper Rifle and Venus Magnum among them. Loading crafted rounds into those buys you nothing at all, so keep the stack for weapons that will not do the conversion themselves. It only pierces a couple of bodies and loses damage each time, so it is a precision option rather than a crowd answer.

Player versus player is where it is strongest. An opponent with top-tier movement gear can dodge almost anything, but they cannot dodge a shot that arrives the instant it is fired.
