Loom

Silk is the gate, and silk sits under beds, sofas, bandages and a good chunk of the early furniture list. That makes this the second or third station most people set up after the work bench and furnace. Underground cabins sometimes generate with one already inside, so it is worth checking a few before you spend the wood on your own.

If you have picked up a Living Loom, the plain one is dead weight. Every recipe that works here works there, and the living version adds the tree-themed and feywood furniture on top. Two stations doing the same job is two tiles of house you did not need to fill.

A loom weaves thread into cloth. The thing pictured on this item is much closer to a spinning wheel, which does the opposite job of turning fiber into thread in the first place.
