Magic Water Dropper
How to craft it
Used to craft
what it does
A dropper is pure decoration. Place one and that spot drips forever on a loose timer, with no gameplay effect at all. The same drips appear naturally when a world is generated, wherever a pocket of liquid sits above a ceiling and looks like it is leaking through, so the crafted item is a way to fake that look anywhere you want it.
placing and removing
It only goes on the underside of a block, and the item is consumed the moment it goes down. Removing one means mining the drip with a pickaxe, and nothing comes back, so decide before you commit. Swapping out the block above a drip leaves the drip alone. Every one you place also shows on the minimap, which helps you find decoration you forgot about.
picking a liquid
Lava is the only version that gives off light, which makes it the pick for a cave room or forge that wants a glow with no visible torch, and its drips cannot burn you. Water and honey are quieter and suit cellars and hive rooms. The shimmer version skips the workbench entirely: throw an Empty Dropper into a pool of Shimmer and it comes back transformed.
