Pygmy Staff
Summons a Pygmy to fight for you
The pygmies will fight for you
Dropped by
they need a clear shot
The spears stop dead at terrain, which puts these well behind the minions of the same tier that ignore walls. In a cramped arena or under a platform ceiling the pygmies will stand around holding a spear they cannot throw. Give them flat open ground and a boss that approaches from the side and they perform much better than their reputation suggests.
they lead the target
Rather than throwing at where an enemy is, they throw at where it will be shortly. That is why they connect on moving bosses at all. It also means a target that reverses direction constantly, or teleports, will walk out of most of the throws. They only fire when the predicted spot lines up roughly level with them, so a boss circling above your head gets very little attention.
the debuff matters more than the hits
Every spear that lands keeps a damage over time effect ticking on the target. On a long fight against something large and slow, that trickle is a real slice of the total, and it is why the staff holds up against enemies its raw numbers should not touch.
small details
Each pygmy you summon picks one of four looks at random and they all behave the same, so a full squad rarely matches. When you outrun them they catch up by riding their own spear through the air, which is worth watching for once.
