Rope Coil

You lob it, it arcs until it hits something solid, and a line of rope unrolls straight down from the point of impact. The use case is a hole you have not scouted yet: hit the lip, get an instant ladder, drop in and climb back out without placing tiles by hand. Anything solid in the shaft stops the line early, so cave systems with ledges eat part of the throw.

Hitting the top of a rope that is already hanging splices onto it instead of wasting the coil, which is how you build a long descent. Throw, climb down, throw again from the bottom. Leftover length with nowhere to go falls to the floor as ordinary Rope, and a throw with no room at all just returns the coil, so a bad angle costs you nothing but the toss.

The result is normal rope in every way. Climb it, extend it by hand, mine it back up for reuse. Silk, web and vine versions exist as their own coils and behave identically, so pick by what you have spare. There is no equivalent for Chain or streamers, so decorative vertical runs are still a manual job.
