Wood stops being only a building block once this is down. Beds, bookcases, the weapon racks and the item frames that make a base look built rather than thrown together all come from here, and so do most of the themed furniture sets. Put one in the workshop early instead of treating it as a late luxury, because half the recipes you will want quietly point at it.

It takes a three by three footprint and needs solid ground or a platform underneath, which is bigger than most stations, so leave room when you lay out a crafting corner. The saw blade animates once it is placed, so it is easy to pick out in a crowded room.
