Scarlet Macaw

Macaws are daytime jungle birds. Walk the surface jungle with the sun up and you will spot them in the canopy. Shaking a mahogany can also shake a bird loose, again only during the day, which is quicker if you were already there for wood. They are fragile enough that a wandering enemy or a stray shot from your own weapon will finish one before you reach it.

Any Bug Net picks one up and it rides in your inventory until you let it go somewhere you like. The other option is a cage, which pins the bird to a shelf permanently. That is a one way trip unless you run the finished cage through Shimmer to break it back into a live bird, so catch two if you want one on display and one in reserve.

A Macaw Statue produces endless birds, but they are scenery. Swing a net at one and it pops into smoke instead of going in your pack, so a statue fills a room with color rather than stocking cages. Unlike most bird critters these two cannot be cooked, which leaves decoration as the only reason to bother with them.
