Seagull

Seagulls do not spook. Where a normal bird bolts the moment you approach, these let you walk straight up to them, which makes catching one far less of a chase than the average critter. They wander the sand on foot and float on the water until something startles them or they fall far enough, at which point they switch to flying.

The Ocean is the only place they appear naturally, and shaking palm trees on that beach can also knock one loose. They do not favor water when they land, so a caught one released inland will happily potter around your base instead of trying to get home.

Enemies can kill these, which turns netting one during a pirate invasion or a blood moon into a race. Run your luck deep enough into the negative and the seagull turns on you, which is the game making a joke rather than a real threat.
