what it is actually for
King Slime hands this out most of the time you beat him, and it is a toy rather than a weapon. Firing it paints anything in the arc green and leaves it dripping for a few seconds. No damage, no ammo, no mana, so you can hold the button down as long as you like.
the use nobody expects
The stream lights placed fixtures. Torches, campfires, candles, lanterns, chandeliers and most other lighting will flick on when the slime hits them, so you can light a whole base or arena from the floor instead of clicking every fixture. Its reach is shorter than the Water Gun, which does the opposite job, so keeping both lets you flip a room between lit and dark on demand.
It refuses reforges, so no modifier will ever appear on it. If you are done with the gag, throwing it into Shimmer converts it into the Shimmer Gun, which is the far more interesting version of the same idea.
