Smoke Block

Placed smoke is animated, and the outermost columns of any shape you build render at half width. A square of it reads as a narrow plume with soft edges rather than a hard rectangle. Plan for that and build a column wider than you think you need if you want the smoke to look full.

• Stacked above Living Fire Blocks it finishes the illusion of a real fire, which is why adventure maps use it constantly.
• Negative Paint turns it into pale foam, good for the base of a waterfall.
• Hammer it into a half block or a low slope and banners will hang from it. War Table Banners are the exception and snap immediately.
• With Echo Coating it goes invisible while staying non solid, so you can hide a walkable route through it in a way blocks, platforms and planter boxes cannot manage.

One annoyance to plan around: Block Swap will not replace it, so redoing a wall of smoke means breaking it out by hand first.
