Stynger Bolt

The launcher comes off Golem and is not guaranteed, so expect a few return trips to the temple. Every copy that does drop arrives with a starting supply of Stynger Bolts, which is enough to learn the weapon and nowhere near enough to run an event. Restocking has a catch: the Witch Doctor and Arms Dealer only list the ammunition while the launcher is actually in your inventory, so anyone who leaves it in a chest will wonder where the stock went.

Shots travel flat and quickly. Gravity is in the math, but the drop over any realistic fighting distance is small enough to ignore, so you aim straight at things rather than lobbing. Each bolt bursts the instant it touches an enemy or a wall, and that burst throws a handful of fragments off in random directions which detonate on their own. A clean direct hit is worth far more than a near miss, because only the bolt itself gets the contact bonus, not the blast around it.

Fragment spread is random, so damage against a single target swings from shot to shot and the weapon feels inconsistent in a duel. Against a crowd it is the opposite, since pieces land on enemies you never aimed at. Firing into a corner or down a corridor keeps the fragments near the target instead of scattering into open sky. None of the explosions can hurt you, so shooting at your own feet is safe. Every hit does apply a brief spell of invulnerability to whatever it lands on, so pairing this with another fast hitting weapon wastes output from both.

This is an event weapon before anything else. It carries the early and middle waves of the Pumpkin Moon and the Frost Moon without much thought, then starts to struggle once Pumpking and the Ice Queen stack up. Reforge toward Unreal if you can afford it. The ongoing cost is ammunition, so bring coins to the event and buy in bulk before the first wave rather than scrambling mid night.
