This hangs on a wall and does nothing else. It carries no combat bonus of any kind, so treat it as a trophy from the Old One's Army rather than a piece of equipment, whatever your instincts say about items that drop off a boss.

What makes it interesting is the width. Every other banner in the game occupies a single tile column. This one takes two, which gives builders a wider hanging element for a hall or a barracks without faking it by placing two banners side by side. The dark mage hands over a handful at a time, so you almost never need a dedicated farm.
