Water Strider

The spawn conditions are narrower than most critters. Daytime, surface water, and specifically water touching sand or jungle grass, which rules out the ocean entirely. Weather shuts it down too: rain stops them, and so does a windy day. If you are hunting one and seeing nothing, check the wind before you go looking somewhere else.

As bait it is weak and easy to replace, so the real reasons to net one are the cage and the rare gold variant. If you want the gold, pick a pond you can keep passing rather than trying to force it in one sitting.

The sprite leans further toward Surskit from Pokemon than toward the actual insect, with four legs and a round blue body instead of long spindly limbs.
