Wooden Yoyo

On its own it is weak, short in reach and slow to return, and almost anything else you can build at the same point kills faster. What it is genuinely useful for is finding out whether the class suits you, because a yoyo plays nothing like a sword. You hold the button, the yoyo parks itself at the end of the string, and you steer it with the cursor while your own feet keep moving.

The other reason to make one is the upgrade path. It feeds directly into the Chik, which is a real weapon and stays useful through the first stretch of Hardmode. By then you will also want a longer string and a counterweight, and those two change how a yoyo handles far more than swapping to a slightly stronger one does.
