Jungle Bat

Jungle Bats need the jungle biome and nothing else. Unlike most of the roster down there they do not care whether the block beneath them is jungle grass, so they fill in the bare stone stretches and carved tunnels where everything else goes quiet. They are common across the surface jungle and show up less often underground. Shaking a rich mahogany tree after dark can also shake one loose, which is a rude surprise if you went up there for fruit.

One is harmless. Five arriving at once while you push through vines in starter gear is how early jungle trips end. They fly the drunken path every bat flies, so anything you have to aim wastes most of its shots. The counter is water, since bats cannot enter it and the jungle is full of pools. Drop into one and they hover uselessly overhead. A Breathing Reed turns that from a held breath into a position you can actually hold and shoot from. In Expert their bite can leave Feral Bite on you, which keeps rolling fresh debuffs while it runs.
