Variants
Old One's Skeleton spawns as 2 variants that share one bestiary entry; each row is one variant's exact stats.
Banner
Every 50th kill of this enemy drops Old One's Skeleton Banner.where they come from
These never appear on their own. They exist only during the Old One's Army, conjured out of the ground in batches by the Dark Mage, and he keeps producing them for as long as he is alive. That makes the skeletons a symptom. Break through to the mage and the flow stops, and whatever is left standing folds quickly.
fighting them
They move faster than most of the invasion's ground troops and carry very little life, so they are the ideal thing to sweep up with a wide weapon while you are working toward something more dangerous. The risk is that speed: a group can reach your crystal before your defenses chew through them.
- They can turn ethereal, float upward and drift through solid tiles, so walls, pits and layered platforms do not hold them the way they hold ordinary skeletons.
- Lava does nothing to them and teleporters will not take them, like the rest of the invasion.
- Traps only land half their usual damage, so a trap-heavy arena underperforms badly here.
- Unlike most bone enemies, they will hurt the Skeleton Merchant if he is standing nearby.
Their banner takes far more kills than a normal enemy's.
