how it plays
Swings leave a bleed on whatever they touch, and it piles up to five layers if you keep landing hits on the same target. Only the first enemy struck in a given swing picks up a stack, so you cannot wade into a crowd and expect everything to be bleeding. Against one tough enemy the ticks add real damage on top of the swing itself, and that is where the sword pulls ahead.
Set against the Corruption sword it hits harder and covers more ground per swing, but it comes back slower. The trade suits the bleed: you want solid connections on one target rather than fast sweeps through a group. Early bosses and the run up to the Wall of Flesh are where it does most of its work.
notes
- Turning off blood and gore swaps the bleeding particles for harmless looking puffs, which makes the debuff harder to read at a glance.
- The bleed cannot be applied to players, so it borrows another debuff's icon rather than having art of its own.
