throwing it
This is one of very few early swords that does anything besides swing. Release the attack button part way through the arc and the blade leaves your hand, flies level for a beat, then drops and sticks into the ground. While it is embedded it damages anything touching it in quick repeated ticks rather than once. Tap attack again to pull it back, which hurts whatever is in the return path, and you can recall it in mid flight before it ever lands. It hits harder in the air than sitting in the floor, so the throw and the recall are where the damage is, not the parking.
Only one thrown sword can be planted at a time, and throwing a different one brings the first back. Leave it alone and it returns by itself after a minute.
the dungeon trick
An embedded phaseblade keeps hitting whatever it is in contact with, and Cracked Dungeon Bricks count as a target. Throw one at a cracked section and it will grind through the bricks by itself while you deal with the skeletons coming at you.
where it sits
Treat it as the Meteorite tier broadsword, which is about where it lands in a normal run. In Hardmode it becomes the Blue Phasesaber, same handling with much more behind it. All nine colors are identical, so the pick is aesthetic apart from PvP, where a team can agree on one color to tell each other apart. Legendary is the modifier to reroll for.
the glow
The blade throws light in its own color whenever it is swung, thrown or stuck in the ground, and the sprite stays fully bright in the dark with a little sparkle where it meets the floor. It will not replace a Torch, but it does take some of the blindness out of exploring a cave with it drawn.
