Flinx Staff

Every other early minion is a lottery ticket or a single fixed drop. This one you go and make, which means a summoner run stops being hostage to a rare slime. The price is a trip to the snow biome and a pile of dead Snow Flinx.

The minion charges along the floor, pops upward when it connects, and comes down swinging again. Against ground enemies the tracking is close to perfect. Against slow flyers the bouncing can keep it aloft long enough to stay useful. Against anything quick in the air it flails.

It cannot pass through terrain, so one summoned in a sealed pocket just sits there until you walk far enough away to drag it along. It will happily swim after a target, which most minions refuse to do.

Resummoning it directly on top of an enemy lands extra hits, an ugly but effective trick during early boss fights. It also responds well to whip tags, so pairing it with a whip is worth more than adding a second unrelated minion type.
