Clinging to and climbing sheer walls turns a vertical shaft into something you can go up without rope or platforms, and it takes a lot of the annoyance out of the dungeon and the jungle temple before flight exists. Paired with auto-jump you end up moving through tight terrain without ever touching the ground properly.
shelf life
It ages badly. Once wings go on, wall climbing does nothing you cannot do faster in the air, and the slot is worth more spent on damage or defense. If you want the water branch of the same tinker tree instead, that is the Frog Flipper, and its bonuses add to this one rather than overwriting it.
