Used to craft
this one moves your luck
It is the golden critter with strings attached. Walking into one that spawned on its own gives you a temporary luck bonus. Killing one, or feeding it to a hook as bait, does the reverse and also pushes the weather toward rain. Neither swing is enormous, but luck feeds drop rates and fishing quality, so it is worth knowing which direction you are pushing it before you swing a net.
crafting is exempt
Turning it into a cage or any of the other recipes it feeds costs you nothing in either direction. The penalty only applies to killing it outright or consuming it as bait. If you want the money or the decoration, take it without worrying.
released ones do not count
The bonus only comes from ones that spawned naturally. Catching one, carrying it home and letting it go again does not let you farm the boost by walking into it repeatedly, and killing a released one still costs you. When you find one in the wild, brush past it first, then decide whether it goes in the net.
